SPRING

Hello, beautiful!

Spring has arrived!

Renewal is all around.

Can you see it? Do you feel it?

Renewal means to replace or repair something that is worn out.

Are there parts of you that feel worn out?

If so, you’re not alone.

Let this be a gentle reminder that wellness is a choice.

It requires action, effort, and habit.

If you need help with any of these, please reach out.

Spring truly feels like a new beginning.

Take the time to consider how you’d like the next year to be better than the last, and focus on…

RENEWAL.

In this article you’ll find:

  • Post-viral plant-based support,

  • an immune-boosting recipe for “fire cider,”

  • a sustainable clothing brand,

  • a sweet release for tight hips,

  • a power-packed nutritional tip for making mushrooms more magical,

  • a few of my favorite images from the end of winter and the beginning of spring,

  • and a few reasons to enjoy violets, as they are in season now.

I’ve shared these tip and links with clients over the past few weeks. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you are finding ways to nourish and nurture yourself!

VIRAL RECOVERY

I listened to Dr. Jean Bokelmann give a presentation entitled “Beyond Covid: Restoring Wellness through PhytoAromatherapy.”

She highlighted that:

  1. Women were more likely to experience “long-covid.”

  2. The hardest hit age range was 40-49, and

  3. “long-covid” is a mix of more than 200 varying symptoms.

Physicians are in new territory with how to help.

Several herbs may offer potential support, including:

  • turmeric (Curcumin longa),

  • ginger (Zingiber officinale),

  • frankincense (Boswellia serrata),

  • ginseng (Panax ginseng),

  • dandelion (Taraxacum officinale),

  • licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra),

  • skullkap (Scutellaria baicalensis)

  • saffron (Crocus sativus),

and essential oils such as:

  • geranium (Pelargonuim graveolens),

  • cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylancium and others),

  • lemon (Citrus limon), and

  • thyme (Thymus vulgaris).

Please talk with your doctor before changing your medical regimen, and work with a qualified herbalist or aromatherapist to optimize your experience.

IMMUNE RECIPE

If you’re looking for a recipe that will kick-start your immune system, decrease inflammation, and help support your overall wellness, try Fire Cider for Natural Health, made with Apple Cider Vinegar, honey, and mix-in’s.

Make a pact

Holistic and healthy living is a lifestyle. What you put on your body matters. If you are looking for a clothing brand that’s organic, fair trade, carbon neutral, comfy, and functional, look no further. Try pact.

HIP TIPs

Winter takes a toll on the body. A lot of restless energy and unprocessed emotion can be stored in the hips. Take it easy and enjoy a gentle, slow release with this video, Somatics and Yin Yoga for the Hips.

Nutritional Tip

Sunny Fungi: Leave mushrooms to soak in the sunshine before cooking. This significantly increases vitamin D levels. Exposure to sunlight for 15-120 minutes generated enough vitamin D to help meet the daily requirements, which is exciting beause most of us are Vitamin D deficient. Read the study here.

Beautiful moments from the end of Winter

A few of my favorite winter moments: meeting a dear friend for a hot cuppa tea or coffee, lots of homemade guacamole, waiting for the daffodils to bring the promise of spring, homemade sourdough and mozzarella, and the first glimpses of pink.

SPRING BREAK

I survived and enjoyed Spring Break with teen boys and rose with the sun each morning.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

I am loving the gorgeous spring colors, and it’s almost Farmer’s Market season! I met a few local vendors and enjoyed treats at our winter market. Imported olive oil from Gold King is incredible and Smoked Gouda Pimento and Cheese from Humble Roots is divine!

Violets are in abundance in the yard right now! I’ve been mixing them in salads, drinks, and herbal teas. Violets contain salicylic acid (nature’s aspirin). They can support gentle pain relief and more restful sleep. Read more about violets…

Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.
