Equi Nox
That felt fast.
Summer comes to a halt today at 2:18pm EST.
At 2:19 pm today, we experience the autumnal equinox, signaling a time of equal day and night.
Equi = equal, nox = night.
Autumn, or fall, comes to restore balance.
Restore Balance
The past few weeks could have
forced you to let go of something,
thrown you off your routine, or
shown you parts of your life that feel “out of sorts.”
Stress, frustration, and chronic irritation are indicators, or “warning lights,” saying,
“Something needs to change.”
Quite often, balance can best be found through letting go.
Ask Yourself
What needs to FALL away in your life?
What part of your life is ready for change?
Even subtle shifts to your routines, habits, and goals can create major momentum.

In Your Body
From a holistic perspective, this is an ideal season to nurture and support your kidneys.
The kidneys help filter blood, help eliminate waste, filter excess fluids, regulate blood pressure, maintain electrolyte balance, produce hormones, balance acids, and activating vitamin D, just to name a few functions.
Because you have two kidneys, don’t go it alone! This is an ideal time to connect with a partner, friend, or coach.

Emotional Health
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys are deeply tied to fear.
They hold the energy of life.
The kidneys reflect our vitality, and nothing impedes life like fear.
Chronic fear disrupts vitality and can lead to more obvious kidney imbalances, such as: urinary incontinence, frequent urination, lower back pain, ringing in the ears, swelling or water retention, and brain fog.
In a recent Breakthrough Session, a client reported a marked increase in gray hairs recently. Her session revealed an overall deficiency in her vitality, primarily coming from a chronic feeling of not feeling supported. We came up with a practical and affordable plan to help restore balance through whole foods, herbs, and teas.
In TCM, kidney imbalances are also linked to premature graying of hair, although Western Medicine links it to other causes.
Keep it Real
According to the National Kidney Foundation, superfoods for the kidneys include:
Açaí berries
Apples
Blueberries
Citrus fruits
Cherries
Pomegranates
Strawberries
Tomatoes
Avocados
Beans, especially black beans
Broccoli
Leafy greens
Root vegetables
Squash
Flax seeds
Chia seeds
Black Sesame seeds
Eggs
Fish
Yogurt
7 Ways to Have a Fabulous Fall
Drink more water. Water supports the body through times of transition. Drier air may be remedied with increased hydration.
Enjoy natural electrolytes to keep the kidneys functioning well. My favorites for the major four electrolytes are:
Potassium: bananas, coconut water, watermelon, yogurt
Sodium: olives, pickles, celery
Magnesium: pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, almonds, and avocado
Calcium: cheese, nuts, broccoli
Enjoy a lower-back massage.
Walk regularly to support your kidneys and a healthy blood pressure.
Sit in silence. The world is quite noisy. A few minutes each day in silence is calming and nourishing.
Stay warm. Particularly focus on keeping the lower back and kidneys warm as the weather begins to cool.
Clear the fear. Some fears are rational. Some fears are completely irrational. But almost all fears are blocks. They block vitality, love, experience, etc. Getting a grip on what you’re afraid of and confronting it in healthy ways is a liberating lesson in letting go.
